Female Genital Mutilation/ Cutting (FGM/C) Prevalence Map

In the course of our research, we discovered that we couldn’t find a comprehensive resource listing prevalence of FGM/C among girls and women around the world. We searched various sources and compiled this map so that other clinicians, researchers, and advocates may benefit. We realize that available data may change over time, so if you are aware of a source that we did not include, please contact us at nyuempowerlab@gmail.com.

*Note: Prevalence listed for India and Pakistan are among Dawoodi Bohras within each country and not the countries themselves. Prevalence listed for Iraq is for the country itself. Iraq has an additional prevalence of 60% among Kurds within the country.
